Types of Numbers in mathematics

Different types of Numbers in mathematics

1) Natural Numbers
         Counting numbers: N = { 1,2,3,…}

2) Whole Numbers
         Counting numbers and zero: No = { 0,1,2,3,…}

3) Integers
         Whole numbers and opposites and zero
      Ex.  …,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,…

4) Rational Numbers
         Repeating or terminating decimals:
        Q = {x | x= a/b  and a ∈ z  and b ∈ z and b ≠ 0}
      Ex.     2/3,5/17,29/14

5) Irrational Numbers
         Non repeating and non terminating decimals
       Ex.  √2  ,π,√7

6) Real Numbers
         All real values not containing imaginary term or value.
         Union of rational and irrational numbers.
       Ex.  R =2,√5,π,5/9  ,0

7) Even Numbers
         Numbers divisible by 2
       Ex.2,4,6,8,…

8) Odd Numbers
        Numbers are not divisible by 2
       Ex.1,3,5,7,…

9) Prime Numbers
        Those numbers which are not divided by other than 1
and itself
       Ex.2,3,5,7,…

10) Composite Number
         A number other than 1,which is not prime number

       Ex.4,6,8,9,10,…
